The editors of the Rural History Yearbook/Jahrbuch für Geschichte des ländlichen Raumes invite scholars to send us manuscripts. The RHY seeks original research articles in rural history to appear in a newly established section beyond the thematic focus of the respective issue. We welcome works that explore any country or region.
The Rural History Yearbook/Jahrbuch für Geschichte des ländlichen Raumes was founded in 2004 and aims to foster scientific discussion on rural history in a broader sense, including environmental history, rural politics as well as economic, social and cultural history. From 2020 onwards the RHY will be published open access and in print.
Please submit your manuscripts in German or English language at any time convenient. All manuscripts are subjected to a double-blind peer review procedure.

Please send your manuscripts to Martin Bauer: martin.bauer@ruralhistory.at

Guidelines for Authors
A typical manuscript will not exceed 80,000 characters (including spaces and footnotes). Tables, maps and figures should each be submitted as a separate file. Permission to reproduce copyright material must be obtained by the author and sent to the editors. Reviewed manuscripts are proof-read by the editorial office, but authors, particularly those whose first language is not English, are strongly advised to have their English-language manuscripts checked by a native speaker before submission. This helps to ensure that the academic content of the paper is fully understood by the editors and any reviewers. The use of these services is at the author’s own expense.
Please note our style guide.
